Raiders Get Their Men
June 05, 2009
The VI Raiders, 2008 Canadian Bowl Champions, held a press conference on
Thursday to unveil some very exciting players to the public. Wide Receiver
Tyson Buchannon and Slotback Robin Medeiros signed their contracts with the
team in front of the Nanaimo media.
"These are explosive athletes with the ability to dominate any game,"
claimed Head Coach Matthew "Snoop" Blokker. "They are all stars in every
aspect and I believe the talent of our team just increased immensely."
Both Medeiros and Buchannon were elated to sign with the team, the smiles
never leaving their face. Returning Raider Jared Ralko presented the newest
Raiders with their jerseys and championship hats while welcoming them to the
club.
Medeiros joins the Raiders from the Burlington Braves in the Ontario
Football Conference. The Braves lost the VI Raiders last year in the
Canadian Bowl and Medeiros now is a part of the program that he had to watch
celebrate last season. "We would like to thank Larry Irish of the Burlington
Braves for being such a class act and allowing Robin to come play for us,"
expressed Coach Snoop.
Buchannon joins the club from a fantastic program at Terry Fox Secondary and
three years at Simon Fraser University. He is coming off a tremendous
performance in the Eat/West CIS All-Star game and offers a second punch for
the offence that will need to be respected on every play.
Season tickets are now on sale for your VI Raiders! The Raiders look for
their forth straight BCFC title and if they succeed, the Canadian Bowl will
be hosted in Nanaimo this November. Don't Delay! Season Tickets are only
$50!
