Raiders Claim Individual Honours after Big Team Win

Dom Abassi

In a showdown for first place the Vancouver Island Raiders showed why they are defending national champions beating the second place South Surrey Rams 64-0. The Raiders inserted a healthy Offensive Player of the Week back into the line up; one Andrew Harris. The star tailback rushed for 211 yards on 16 carries, an average of 22 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns on a very physical Rams defence. It is the fourth time this season Harris has been named a BC Lions BCFC Player of the Week.

In their 23rd consecutive home victory, the Vancouver Island Raiders played a complete game in all three facets, including showing off a very potent Special Teams. Returner Robin Medeiros is this week's Special Teams Player of the Week. The Hamilton, Ontario native returned eight punts for a total of 247 yards, which was highlighted by an 84 yard scamper for a touchdown. He would also return one kickoff for 14 yards, and would average 30.8 yards per return against a very good the South Surrey Rams team. Medeiros also added 132 yds receiving, for a total of 393 all purpose yards on the day.
