VI Raiders welcome the new Nanaimo NightOwls at this years Spring Camp

The VI Raiders have kicked off the 2022 season with Spring Camp at the new NDSS Sports field in Nanaimo. Both teams will call the new Sports facilities at NDSS Home from now on.  The Raiders first home game is Saturday July 23rd, The NightOwls start their inaugural season in the West Coast League at the new and improved Serauxmen Stadium Friday night June 3rd.

Over 60 players from as far away as Hazlet and Swift Current Saskatchewan, Medicine Hat and Edmonton Alberta fought hard all weekend in hopes of securing a spot on the 2022 Roster.

Head Coach Curtis Vizza: “it’s inspiring to see the enthusiasm, commitment and energy all 60+ players and coaches showed throughout this years Spring Camp”

GM Josh Williams: “with the proven strength/dedication of our returning players and the addition of the very powerful prospects we’ve seen this weekend, I think it’s safe to say the VI Raiders are back and ready to compete"

This years Camp includes the highest turnout of Vancouver Island players in the teams history.  Most Island players are from 3 of the most successful high school programs in the Country, John Barsby, Ballenas and NDSS.

Ben Chomolok  from the Ballenas High School program is shaping up to be our 1st Starting QB from Vancouver Island.

Some exciting new signing announcements will be coming in the next couple of weeks.  Registration begins June 1st.  All signings and announcements will be available online at viraiders.ca and on all our social media channels.

Congratulations and thanks to all the players, parents and coaches that made the trek.
