Raiders Clinch Playoff & Break Record
VI Raiders Clinch Playoff Spot with Record-Breaking Defensive Performance
The VI Raiders are back in the postseason. With a statement win over the Valley Huskers, the Raiders officially clinched the fourth seed in the 2025 BC Football Conference playoffs, securing the program’s first playoff appearance since 2021.
The victory was fueled by a dominant and historic defensive performance. The Raiders defense racked up 10 sacks, setting a new program record for sacks in a single game and tying for 4th all-time in Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) history.
Leading the charge was Tani Wisdom with 4 sacks, followed by Stirling Henry (3.5), Quanterius Lusk (1.5), and Maxx Shippam (1).
“This was a complete effort from our defense,” said Head Coach Shawn Arabsky. “They played with discipline, energy, and heart. Records are great, but the most important thing is that this win gives our guys a shot at competing for a championship.”
With the win, the Raiders solidified their playoff position but still have one game left in the regular season. They will face the Langley Rams on Saturday, October 4th before turning their focus to the postseason.
On Saturday, October 11th, the Raiders will travel to Kelowna to take on the top-seeded Okanagan Sun in the BCFC semifinals.
General Manager Terrek Bryant praised the resilience of the team and the community’s support:
“Our players have worked incredibly hard to get back to this stage. To set a league-record milestone and punch our ticket to the playoffs in the same night shows the potential of this group. Nanaimo, the Island, and Raider Nation have been behind us every step — and we’re ready to make some noise in the playoffs.”
